North Carolina native Everette Funches is a self-taught independent collage artist. His visual language is rooted in personal history and experience including a background in music (percussionist) and black box theater (actor).

Influenced by NYC golden age graffiti of the 70's and early 80's, Black Classical Music and firsts sightings of collage and cubist work of Romare Bearden sharpened ideas of how Art is interpreted through 

paper cut-outs.

Everette's creative practice of collage is deeply rooted in cultural memory and the transformative power of storytelling through multi-layered space. Blending personal and collective histories help intersect and invite audiences to reflect, connect. and imagine new possibilities.
